Fire safety in any setting is important. When it involves large-scale gatherings such as in schools, colleges and universities, it’s even more relevant.
This online CPD training, which is module 1 of our fire safety series, is purpose-designed for teachers, teaching assistants, youth and/or residential childcare workers, pastoral support staff and SENCOs, whether they have a specific fire safety function, or are interested in upskilling in the subject.
Whilst school fires are exceptionally rare in the UK, participants will learn that all schools are legally required to have a fire safety plan called a Fire Safety Risk Assessment (FSRA). This sets out the regime for fire drills, evacuation procedures, responsibilities etc, in line with guidance set out by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).
This CPD training outlines the purpose of having fire safety regulations and regular fire safety risk assessments and why they are so crucial for all those working with children and young people in an educational setting. This course also provides detailed information about safety concerns in and around school, along with the specific behaviour of fire and how it can quickly and ferociously develop, spreading noxious and highly dangerous gases in an instant.
With this CPD training, education professionals can gain the necessary knowledge and skills they need, alongside a better understanding of relevant legislation that affects them.
This online CPD training aims to equip educators and those working with groups of children and young people in any setting, with practical, up-to-date knowledge about the importance of maintaining high standards of fire safety.
