Course Details

Introducing Prevent Agenda Awareness in Education Settings: an educational CPD resource for professionals looking to raise awareness of the Prevent agenda, with a view to providing a safe, supportive environment for the children and young people that they work with.

With this CPD course, education professionals can gain the necessary knowledge and skills to protect children in their care so they can be informed about the dangers of terrorism and radicalisation and the key signs to watch out for.

This child protection course also provides information on safeguarding measures, as well as empowering educators with the essential knowledge to inform children about the risks concerning terrorism and radicalisation.

In addition, education professionals can use culturally sensitive approaches to inform parents or carers about the dangers of terrorism and radicalisation and the key indicators to be aware of. It encourages collaboration between school staff and the wider community to prevent terrorism and radicalisation, thus ensuring educators meet all mandatory reporting duties concerning Prevent.

Whether you are looking for Radicalisation CPD or Safeguarding CPD opportunities or want to learn more about how to identify and prevent terrorism in schools, the core aim of this course is to equip you with a more detailed understanding of Prevent, so you understand your responsibilities as an educator working with children and young people.

Course Aims

This course aims to provide education professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively address, recognise and report concerns under the Prevent agenda to protect children in their care.

Course Objectives

The Prevent strategy sets out the Government’s approach to its counter-terrorism activities.

This child protection course is designed to help professional educators safeguard the most vulnerable people that they support from being indoctrinated with extreme views, leading to radicalisation.

All education providers have specific responsibilities and a wider “Prevent” duty under the strategy.

Participants will learn about CONTEST (UK's Counter-Terrorism Strategy) and the 4 Ps, which will help them prevent terrorism and terrorist ideology from spreading.  By using Preventing, Pursuing, Protecting and Preparing workflows, schools can learn how to identify and tackle terrorist views and behaviours, keeping everyone safe.

Training will also include how to identify the early signs of a child at risk. You will also learn how to report any incidences of concern through the appropriate channels.
