Course Details

CAMHS is the name for the NHS services that assess and treat young people with emotional, behavioural and/or mental health difficulties. The Working with CAMHS mental health CPD course is an informative, educational resource for professionals looking to support children requiring CAMHS intervention.

Mental health CPD courses are a vital source of continuing professional development for all those involved in the support and teaching of young people with mental health issues.

With this CPD course, education professionals will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to support children in their care through a better understanding of the CAMHS framework and the importance of early identification and intervention for common mental health disorders.

We will also provide information about working in partnership with CAMHS, and the need for effective communication channels and information sharing.

In addition to learning how best to support children and young people, participants will be introduced to a series of strategies that promote the wide-ranging benefits of positive mental health across their school and/or college environment.

Whether you want to proactively equip yourself with an understanding of working with CAMHS or already have a direct connection with children suffering from mental health difficulties, this CPD course will provide all the tools you need.

Course Aims

This mental health CPD course aims to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of CAMHS and its role in education, outlining their expectations and requirements, and equipping you with the knowledge and skills required to support the mental health of children and young people effectively.

Course Objectives

Understanding the CAMHS framework and the importance of early identification and intervention for common mental health disorders in children and young people is a key course objective.

Working alongside mental health leads, CAMHS provides support covering depression, problems with food and eating, self-harm, abuse, violence or anger, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and anxiety, amongst other issues.

Participants will learn about the referral process for CAMHS and how this is the first step to getting help.  It will also highlight that referrals can come from parents/carers, teachers, GPs, or from anyone else working in a school setting.

Alongside CAMHS insight, this mental health CPD course will explain strategies for promoting school and college-wide mental health awareness thus benefiting more children and young people.

By the end of this CPD course, participants will understand the expectations and requirements for working with CAMHS and equip you with the knowledge and skills required to support the mental health of children and young people effectively.
