Course Details

Supporting Looked After Children in the Classroom is an online CPD course designed for teachers, teaching assistants, pastoral support workers, SENCOs and educational professionals who work with children or young people currently in the care system.

Designed to equip education professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to best support these children, this online course will ensure that educators have a better understanding of the experiences and backgrounds of ‘looked after’ children. The course particularly encourages staff to be more sensitive and aware of the potential impact of being in care on an individual’s academic performance.

Educators will be particularly introduced to what is involved with ‘Personal Education Plans’ and how this affects their responsibilities. During the course, educators will also learn of the importance of maintaining social and emotional support, along with effective lines of communication.

Whether you aim to equip yourself with a general understanding of supporting ‘looked after’ children in the classroom, or have a direct connection with someone in care, or are a designated teacher, this CPD training will equip you with all the tools that you need to make the most effective response.
