Course Details

The course is designed to support education professionals in understanding and implementing the Prevent duty as part of their wider safeguarding responsibilities. It aims to raise awareness of the risks of terrorism and radicalisation among children and young people, equipping staff with the knowledge and confidence to recognise early warning signs and respond appropriately.

The course explores the objectives of the Prevent strategy and its role within the UK government’s counter-terrorism framework. Participants will gain insight into how radicalisation occurs, the factors that make children vulnerable, and the ways in which extremist influences may take hold—particularly through online channels and peer networks.

Education professionals will learn how to implement safeguarding measures that promote resilience and critical thinking in students. The course also provides tools for engaging parents and carers in a culturally sensitive manner, building trust and understanding while raising awareness of the signs of radicalisation.

A strong emphasis is placed on creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment in which difficult conversations can take place. Participants will also become familiar with their statutory duties under the Prevent agenda, including how to record and report concerns through appropriate channels.

Ideal for teachers, support staff, school leaders, and safeguarding leads, this training encourages a whole-school approach to preventing radicalisation and promoting cohesion, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all learners.
