Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025: Post 16 Refresher Course

Safeguarding and Child Protection

Course Details

This concise 60‑minute refresher course is designed for educators in Post‑16 settings who want to stay fully up to date with safeguarding expectations for 2025. Aligned with the latest Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE 2025) guidance, it provides a clear, current overview of safeguarding practice across sixth forms, colleges, and 16–19 academies.

Through short explanations, case scenarios, and reflective learning, participants revisit essential definitions, principles, and statutory duties while exploring what’s new or changed for 2025. The session highlights updated approaches to different types of abuse and harm, emerging digital safeguarding risks (including misinformation, AI, and deepfakes), and the increasing relevance of attendance as a safeguarding concern.

Participants receive step‑by‑step guidance on responding to concerns and disclosures, following the 5 R’s (Recognise, Respond, Report, Record, Refer), and refreshing understanding of the DSL’s central role.

By the end of the course, participants will have refreshed their statutory knowledge, clarified expectations within their own setting, and identified the next practical steps to strengthen everyday safeguarding practice.
