This CPD training is created for teachers, teaching assistants, pastoral support workers, SENCOs and other educators that work with or support children and young people with a hearing impairment and/or complete deafness.
The course will highlight the importance of recognising hearing impairment needs in the classroom and the impact that a lack of accommodations can have on an individual’s educational development and academic achievements.
Participants will learn about the important role of the early assessment of children with a potential hearing issue as well as exploring practical ways in which you can support hearing-impaired children as they go about their daily learning.
As the course progresses, you will learn the differences between hearing impairments and deafness, how the ear works, some of the causes and types of hearing impairment and what devices can be used to help pupils cope with everyday learning.
Participants will learn that not all hearing impairments and conditions are the same, hence each pupil will have their own set of unique needs. Finding the best way to satisfy this need is a key objective, and something that educators need to be aware of.
This specialist CPD training course aims to provide educators with the understanding, knowledge, and skills to effectively support children with a wide range of hearing impairments in the classroom and wider learning environment.
